Wetlands Delineation and Management Wetlands are transitional lands between terrestrial and aquatic systems which are
inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater at a frequency and duration
sufficient to support hydrophytic vegetation and develop hydric soils. Developments on wetlands are governed by federal and
state laws. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act of 1972 is one of the most
important federal regulatory programs for protecting wetlands and other
waters of the US. The presence of wetlands can either be a fatal flaw for
development, or it can be merely a development constraint which can be
successfully dealt with thorough mitigation or design modification. We develop action plans to maintain and to recover
wetland quality, to protect wetland-development species and to provide
technical assistance in wetlands restoration and enhancement. GEO works
closely with the US Corps of Engineers and assists clients in mitigation and
in obtaining land development permits. |
